Your Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) in Mississauga

A few years back my wife and I moved into a bungalow in a quiet area of Mississauga. Our older children had grown up and moved on with their lives, but the youngest was still in school. We knew we still needed a family home of sorts. However a large family property was no longer needed. It may not have felt like a seniors real estate move at the time. It’s clear now that the move was our first towards funding our retirement.

Downsizing for retirement

Both my wife and I are still of working age, so as I often say, don’t sit on your plans to downsize, the same is true for us! We are not waiting until we retire to start thinking of what to do next. Research, planning, savings, and financial opportunities before us can seem daunting. In any case it doesn’t feel like it. Why? Simply because we’ve given ourselves enough time to go over our options.

Seniors Real Estate Specialist

This isn’t necessarily what drove me to get my SRES®, Seniors Real Estate Specialist, designation. It is something I am proud to say I have.

What does it mean to be a Seniors Real Estate Specialist?

Choosing appropriate over 50 living arrangements can be challenging. Not only because it entails an emotional dimension, but also because of the complex issues you need to weigh. Such as cost, location, services, amenities, activities, and current and future care needs.

REALTORS® who possess the SRES® Designation have the necessary knowledge and expertise to counsel clients age 50+ through major financial and lifestyle transitions in relocating, refinancing, or selling the family home.

As my wife and I continue to prepare for retirement I have dedicated my time to learning as much as possible about the downsizing needs of seniors in Mississauga, so I can provide the best service possible for others who need it.

Sandwich Generation

The youngest Baby Boomers today are over the age of 54, and at that age, it’s quite possible that they are caring for their parents as well as children that are either still at home, or have moved back home, for various reasons. How is it possible that this Sandwich Generation is ever going to retire? Well, I am here to tell you, it is possible with a little planning and a little help from the experts. I can show you proven strategies to help make your investment in real estate work for you, help mom and dad and ensure Susie gets a new start somewhere else.

Boomers on the Move

One of the greatest adventures we’ve embarked on as a result of our downsizing research is meeting other senior move experts. That’s why I decided to host a Boomers on the Move Event. Appropriate for anybody over the age of 50 who is looking to downsize their family home to fund their retirement dreams.

Over the course of the evening, we profile the best places in Ontario to retire.  Further we teach you what to do with all the worldly goods that you’ve accumulated over time. In addition we discuss what to do with your current family home. What are the upgrades that might be needed to stay and age-in-place (if that’s what you need to do). Finally how you can secure enough finances to last for the rest of your lifetime.

If you are interested in knowing more about the SRES® designation, or how I can help with your downsizing needs, feel free to send me a message at scott@scottbrubacher.com, attend our next event, or sign up for our Boomers on the Move Newsletter.
